What is the best time to visit Rwanda for birdwatching, wildlife safaris, and eco-tours?

Rwanda is a year-round destination!
The best months for birdwatching are from December to March and June to September, when migratory birds are present and the weather is drier. Gorilla trekking and safaris are also excellent during the dry seasons.

Do I need permits for gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking?

Yes! Gorilla trekking permits are required and must be booked in advance through authorized operators like Green Planet Explorer Rwanda. We assist you with the entire permit booking process to ensure your spot is secured.

What level of fitness is needed for your tours?

Most of our tours involve moderate walking, forest hikes, or trekking. For gorilla trekking or volcano hiking (like Mount Bisoke), you’ll need a reasonable fitness level as the trails can be steep and at high altitude. We customize experiences based on your comfort and preferences.

What should I pack for my trip?

Essentials include: Sturdy hiking shoes or boots Light but long-sleeved clothing (for forest walks) Rain jacket (it can rain even in dry season) Hat and sunscreen Binoculars (for birdwatching) Camera with extra batteries Small backpack for daily excursions

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, we highly recommend having comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and adventure activities such as trekking.

Can you customize a private tour just for me?

Absolutely! Green Planet Explorer Rwanda specializes in tailor-made tours. Whether you’re interested in intense birdwatching, cultural immersion, gorilla trekking, or a bit of everything, we can design an itinerary that suits your style and needs.
