🗓️ Eco-Conservation Tour Overview

  • Focus: Biodiversity, Wetlands, Citizen Science, Community Conservation

🗓️ Day 1: Arrival & Kigali City Orientation

  • Receive a warm welcome upon arrival in Kigali.
  • Visit the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) or the Rwanda Biodiversity Information System (RBIS) for an introduction to Rwanda’s conservation initiatives.

🗓️ Day 2: Wetland Ecology at Rugezi Wetland (North) or Nyandungu Eco-Park (Kigali)

  • Explore Rwanda’s pioneering wetland restoration projects.
  • Participate in water quality testing, bird counts, and plant surveys.
  • Learn about ecosystem services and the role wetlands play in climate resilience.

🗓️ Day 3: Citizen Science in Volcanoes National Park

  • Join primate research teams for gorilla or golden monkey monitoring using non-intrusive methods.

  • Engage in community conservation discussions at the Helen Degeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (DFGFI).
